Microsoft is releasing the final version of Office 2016 for Mac today. After to testers for the past four months, Office 2016 for Mac is ready and available immediately to Office 365 subscribers. Office 2016 for Mac marks nearly five years since the last release of Office for Mac back in 2011, and Microsoft has made some modern changes to support how Office and OS X have changed over the years. There's a new user interface that feels like a mix of the fresh Windows design and Office for Mac 2011. The result is the familiar Ribbon user interface that fits in with the OS X theme and features like sandboxed apps, fullscreen view, and Retina screen optimization. A lot of improvements over Office for Mac 2011 Microsoft has also integrated its OneDrive cloud storage into Office 2016 for Mac, meaning you can quickly access recent documents you may have been editing on your smartphone, tablet, or Windows PC. Popular Alternatives to Power BI for Office 365 for Mac. Explore 21 Mac apps like Power BI for Office 365, all suggested and ranked by the AlternativeTo user community. There's even co-authoring support to allow several people to simultaneously edit a document. Microsoft has also added the familiar Windows shortcuts to its Office 2016 for Mac apps so you can can use ctrl + shift instead of cmd + shift and others to navigate around. That's particularly helpful if you're someone who regularly switches between a Windows PC and Mac. Office 2016 for Mac ships with five apps: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and OneNote. They all feel like they've finally caught up to the Windows equivalents, making this a significant release for Microsoft. Office 365 Home and Personal subscribers can download Office 2016 for Mac today, and a standalone version will be released in September. Hi Apple people. I dont wanna use the office 365 because its no sense at all. I want the whole software which i can use whenever i want until i want to uninstall i Are'nt the Microsoft will build a Office 2013 for mac? I hope they will make so. Or maybe i should just buy the Microsoft Office 2011 for mac instead incase of there will be no office 2013. I'm new to mac world, i havnt install any office software yet. П˜Ÿ While only Microsoft knows its plans for Office for Mac, it's clear that Microsoft is pushing users to a subscription base rather than, as you put it, 'software which i can use whenever i want until i want to uninstall i,' which happens to be what I prefer, too. Yesterday, I installed the free Office 2013 upgrade after having recently purchased (the 3 user pack) and installed Office 2010 on a Windows Virtual Machine. First, you get one 2013 license whether you bought the 1 or 3 user Office 2010 install, whereas the Office 365 upgrade choice (you could pick either with the Office 2010 purchase) gets you five installations, at least for one year. Second, I believe you can move those 365 installations around, while with the computer based install, you can't deactivate it on one machine and reuse the license on another, at least not without dealing directly with Microsoft. Third, the subscription system is supposed to get you any full upgrades (e.g., 2013 to 2015), while the disk based 2013 is it; you'll have to buy 2015 fresh, if there even is such a thing by then. So you can see the push is towards subscriptions by making them a much better deal, at least price-wise. On the other hand, I was surprised to find that the 2013 installation didn't delete the 2010 installation. And in comparing the two, the 2010 interface is more pleasant to work with, and if you don't need or trust the Cloud, the big new feature in 2013 is the ability to open and edit pdf files.

What I can't find are drivers or information for the iRobot USB cable. The RooStick on the other hand seems to be using a Silicon Laboratories CP210x USB to UART Bridge. The PnP ID for this device appears to be 'USB VID_10C4&PID_EA60' with a pretty good abundance of drivers out there. It's using the FTDI232R USB to UART bridge. While Pages is a great word processor, Microsoft Word and other programs available with Microsoft Office are still widely used. It can be frustrating to pass documents between Apple's applications and Microsoft Office. I have dealt with getting Word documents from friends, only to open them in Pages a realize they aren't formatting correctly, or the spacing is off, etc. The good news is Microsoft Office for Mac is pretty great. If you've ever used a PC before, you're likely familiar with the interface, and personally, I think the design of the Office programs for Mac is stellar. Of course, Microsoft offers two versions of Office for Mac, Microsoft Office 2016 and Microsoft Office 365, so here's a breakdown of each one so you can choose the right one for you. Users and devices When deciding what Microsoft Office package you want, you're going to need to know how you intend to use it. Are you one of those people who want to use Office on your Mac, iPad, and iPhone, or do you only need it on your MacBook Pro you use for work or school every day? • Office 2016 Home & Student: Installed on one Mac • Office 2016 Home & Business: Installed on one Mac • Office 365 Personal: Installed on your Mac, iPhone, and iPad with only one user allowed to access the 1TB One Drive storage. • Office 365 Personal: Installed on up to five Macs, PCs, iPhones, and iPads with five users allowed to access the 1TB One Drive storage. Programs Which programs you need in your Microsoft Office suite will also be a critical deciding factor in which version you buy. • Office 2016 Home & Student: Comes with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and OneNote • Office 2016 Home & Business: Comes with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, and Outlook • Office 365 Personal: Comes with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, Outlook, Publisher (PC only), and Access (PC only). • Office 365 Home: Comes with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, Outlook, Publisher (PC only), and Access (PC only). Cloud storage Microsoft OneDrive is a cloud storage service that you can use to store files, photos, documents, and other data. If you get either version of Microsoft Office 365, you'll get a free TB of OneDrive storage to access and use. • Office 365 Personal: 1TB of OneDrive storage for one user, plus 60 minutes per month for Skype calls. • Office 365 Home: 1TB of OneDrive storage accessible by up to five users, plus 60 minutes per month for Skype calls. Neither tier of Microsoft Office 2016 comes with OneDrive storage. Pricing The most significant difference by far is pricing and payment model. Microsoft Office 2016 is a one-time payment, while Office 365 is a monthly subscription model. • Office 2016 Home & Student: $149.99 and doesn't come with updates. Issue has been resolved. What we ultimately concluded was that for unknown reasons the order of files being required was slightly different for different users of the docker container. So the solution we have found was to explicitly re-order requires and to require everything needed for a given module, even if it was typically already loaded elsewhere. Luckily ruby deals with redundant dependency loading for me. We never found a reason why some users, repeatably and without fail, experienced different behavior when loading the application. ------------------------------------------------------------------ Hi Everyone, I've just spent two days dealing with some weirdness, and I turn to you all to see if anyone else has had an experience like this. Background on me: I'm not a docker newbie. I've been working with docker professionally for 3+ years now, and I was playing with it with amateur interest from before DockerFiles existed. I built a docker container that we are using for development, pushed it to our repo, and had a colleague pull it and try to use it. The container works fine for me, and for my colleague it gets a dependency missing error. We then tried it across other colleagues. For some it works fine, for some more it does not. We confirmed the container is the same, we have the same SHA for the image digest when we run `docker images --digest`. Docker for Mac removes the dependency on VirtualBox and instead uses virtualization technology that is already part of Mac OS X, HyperVisor. Docker for Windows uses Microsoft’s virtualization technology, Hyper-V. What we have confirmed is that for those that it does not work, they are using OSX High Sierra, where as for myself and another colleague for whom it does work, we are on (regular) Sierra. So, thats where I am now. We think the difference is caused by OSX version, but I don't know how to mitigate it, or how to further diagnose the issue. Do you have any thoughts? Any ideas of where to look to see a root cause? More than likely you and your colleague's docker is using different Linux kernel (with possible differences in the base OS, not to mention different version of docker). Docker for Mac uses XHYVE hypervisor and runs (at least in my version) Linuxkit base OS. You *CAN* 'enter' that Linux VM on a mac and verify a few possible differences this way: screen ~/Library/Containers/com.docker.docker/Data/com.docker.driver.amd64-linux/tty This will put you into a VM shell, you may be able to run a few checks there and compare. This will tell the story. There were a few devs on my team that were tracking down similar weirdness with Docker for Mac. I don't recall the details and wasn't directly involved, but they did have problems that were, in part, traced to some edge/experimental stuff that some had turned on and others didn't. In the end, they spent a few hours huddled together with lsof, strace and friends and the answer was found. I believe it turned out to be PEBKAC as opposed to anything specifically blameable to Docker. Since you mentioned that some developers are on Sierra and others on High Sierra, I'm guessing that the behaviour you're seeing might relate to an issue with raw images on APFS in High Sierra. For Sierra users, qcow2 images are used. If you look in Docker → Preferences → Disk, you can figure out disk format by the file extension on the Disk image location. See for a bit of information about the two image formats. To rule this out as an issue, I suggest you manually switch everyone to the qcow2 image format, and try again. Future versions of Docker for Mac will switch to the raw format as a default. Sorry, I should have been more clear. I'm referring to the VM image that backs the xhyve VM that Docker for Mac uses, not the Docker images. A problem cropped up many months ago when Docker for Mac started switching High Sierra users from qcow2 to raw VM images. This transition has been temporarily halted. But, depending on when your High Sierra users installed Docker for Mac, they may be on raw VM images. I suggest you check your High Sierra users for what type of VM image they're on, and switch them all to qcow2, if they're on raw. Drivers are located here: Note, however, that according to Alfa Tech Support, the ASS036NHA is 'Windows only' as it contains an Atheros chip and the manufacturer has not issued Mac drivers. Also the NHA does not work with the Alfa R36A Repeater. I point this out because I ordered this part and was shipped the NHA. So look at your part number carefully upon receipt. I can't get this to work, it's frustrating as all. What version of the OS are toy running? So far I haven't seen any indication that it works for 10.8 and higher. I had a similar problem a few years ago when an OS update broke drivers for a wireless adapter I was using. The manufacturer did not have new drivers available and showed no sign of providing one. I finally fixed the issue by finding out the wireless chipset that was used in that device and installing drivers for that chipset even though they didn't mention the specific device manufacturer Apparently, just as with hard drives there are only a few different chips used which are then rebranded. The same chipset may be used by several manufacturers. It is possible to run some apps in '32-bit mode' still (on some machines) in El Capitan. If I wanted to use old 32-bit plugins with Amadeus Pro, for example, I can set AP to open in 32-bit mode. This isn't recommended and will probably be disallowed in the next OS X release or so, of course, so the real solution is to get a 64-bit driver from the developer. But in the meantime, perhaps something like the '32-bit mode' I suggested might work for you, depending on the files used to provide support. Personal Finance Software; Just Checking. After recently switching back to a Windows PC from Mac OS X, I had to find a new software to help me keep track of my checking account transactions. Kathy Yakal The Best Personal Finance Services for 2019 Need to make sense of your entire budget, or even just get a better handle on your monthly household spending? One of these top-rated apps can help you keep track of your incoming and outgoing funds. Get Your Financial House in Order Gone are the days when you could tell how much money you had by looking in your wallet or at your checkbook balance. These days, many people only carry debit and credit cards—no cash. You find your checking account balance or check stock prices by reaching for your smartphone. But how easy is it to discover how much money you've spent on lattes, gas, or work clothes this month? Do you know what the car dealer is going to learn about your credit history when you go in to buy a new vehicle? If you're a self-employed worker, how fast can you find out whether you're on track with your income this month? There are many websites that handle personal finance exceedingly well. We review five of the best here. Quicken, the granddaddy of all personal financial solutions, is now a hybrid solution. The software still resides on the desktop, but the 2018 and 2019 versions offer access to a website that contains Quicken's most often-used features and synchronizes its data with your own personal file. So, you can check in on your income, expenses, and investments on the go. Critical Connections Quicken's online companion app is the biggest recent news in the personal finance world. But all of the applications we reviewed have new features, and they share some common characteristics. Most of them support online connections to your financial institutions. That is, you can download cleared transactions and other account data from your banks, bank card providers, brokerages, and other financial institutions, and see all of it neatly displayed in registers in the applications. Typically, you only have to enter the credentials that you use to log into those financial sites, though you occasionally have to provide additional security information. Once you've imported a batch of transactions, you can work with them in numerous ways. For example, they need to be categorized correctly as income (salary, freelance payment, and interest, for example) and expenses (food, mortgage, utilities, and so on). The personal finance sites guess at what an appropriate category might be, but you can always change it—and you can split transactions between different classifications. If you're conscientious about this, you'll see charts that tell you where you're spending your money. This information can also be helpful when time rolls around. Depending on which website you're using, you might be able to add tags to transactions. That way, you can search for those that are related in ways other than through their category assignments. You can add notes and attach files, too. If you bought something with cash, your bank wouldn't have a record of it. In those circumstances, you can create a transaction manually. CountAbout goes a step further, providing an additional set of tools that let you make recurring transactions (or flag them). A Different Kind of Dashboard. Four of the five personal finance websites reviewed here have what's called a dashboard. It's basically each site's home page, or the first screen you see when you log in. Sometimes, the dashboard is the only screen you'll need to see, because it displays the information you most need when you're checking on your financial situation. You'll learn what all of your account balances are and perhaps any bills that are pending. You'll see charts and graphs that tell you, for example, what your income is versus your spending, and how you're doing on your budget. You may be able to gauge your progress on any goals you've set and view your investment portfolio, with live prices if it's during the market day. Basically, this overview shows you snippets of the detailed data that lies behind the numbers on this opening page. Click on a checking account balance in Mint, for example, and this link takes you to the account's register. Click on your credit score in Credit Karma, and you'll learn what contributes to it and how it's changed recently. So the dashboard on a personal finance website can either provide a quick look at your money situation or it can serve as a springboard to a deeper study of the numbers. In this tutorial, you will learn how to add music to your PowerPoint presentation. Adding music is a fantastic way to breathe life into any presentation. Powerpoint lets us achieve this very easily. After to your PowerPoint presentation, you can let the inserted audio span across all your slides in your presentation by selecting the option. This is done when you need the same music playing through all your slides. But what if you want the music to play only across some successive slides? What if you want the music to play from slide 1 to 12, and let all slides thereafter play without any music? Or you may want to add another audio clip for the next set of slides? Either way, it is possible to limit the number of slides that your music will play across. Remember: As far as possible, work with a presentation that has been saved at least once. Follow these steps to stop your music after specific number of slides in PowerPoint 2011: • We assume you have already added a music clip and set it to. In that case, proceed straightaway to Step 4 of this tutorial. If not, first on the slide from which you want the music to start playing. • Now, select the music icon so that you can see the contextual Format Audio tab (highlighted in red within Figure 1) in the -- click this tab to activate it, as shown in Figure 1. Locate the After radio button that may show a value of 999 slides, (highlighted in blue, within Figure 6). Figure 6: Do you want the music to span 999 slides? Tip: Why does the After option shows 999 slides? That's because 999 is the largest number that PowerPoint can accept for spanning audio clips across slides, and Play Across Slides option that we chose earlier (see Figure 2, shown earlier on this page) caused the After option to populate with the number, 999. • Now, change the value from 999 to the number of slides after which you want the music to stop. For example, you may want the audio clip to only play for 12 consecutive slides -- in that case, replace 999 with 12. After to your PowerPoint presentation, you can let the inserted audio span across all your slides in your presentation by selecting the option. This is done when you need the same music playing through all your slides. But what if you want the music to play only across some successive slides?
